JB Delivered: Standing Up for Illinois Farmers

CHICAGO, IL — Six months in, Trump’s war in Iran has cost Americans over $96 billion, leaving Illinois farmers and families in the dust.

Last week, Governor JB Pritzker called on Donald Trump to provide needed relief to Illinois farmers paying the price of skyrocketing fertilizer prices because of his war of choice. Gov. Pritzker demanded Trump suspend federal import taxes on fertilizers that Illinois corn farmers rely upon to successfully grow their crops.

Gov. Pritzker detailed how Illinois farmers, the #2 corn producers in the nation, are being forced to make tough decisions and face impossible costs as Trump’s war increased nitrogen fertilizer prices by 36% compared to last year.

Trump’s illegal tariffs and war have sacked farmers with high costs and hardships. On the other hand, Gov. Pritzker had their backs, securing more than $4 billion in commitments from overseas purchasers of Illinois corn and soybeans and promoting domestic markets for agriculture commodities.

Gov. Pritzker is committed to protecting Illinois farmers and ensuring Illinois agriculture thrives for generations to come.
