CHICAGO, IL — Governor JB Pritzker has enhanced protections for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. He’s fighting every day to ensure Illinois is a place where all survivors are safe and empowered.
In 2021, Gov. Pritzker enacted Colton’s Law, which created a task force to review and establish systems to better hold abusers accountable and support survivors of domestic violence. In 2025, Gov. Pritzker signed Karina’s Law, which improved protections for survivors and enabled law enforcement to better confiscate firearms from abusers.
This year, Gov. Pritzker signed legislation adding additional safeguards against online harassment. He also strengthened sexual harassment prevention for women in the workplace, increased funding for domestic violence shelters, and expanded medical and legal protections for survivors of sexual assault.
Gov. Pritzker is committed to ensuring all survivors get the justice they deserve and are protected in the state of Illinois.
