Chicago, IL – Darren Bailey’s private school curriculum taught young children hateful rhetoric, using a curriculum that claims gay people “have no more claims to special rights than child molesters and rapists.” Bailey teaches hate at his school, and he supports doing the same in public schools across Illinois.
As MAGA extremists attack LGBTQ+ rights across the country, Illinoisans deserve to know if he stands by his private school’s attempts to indoctrinate Illinois’ kids.
While Governor JB Pritzker is committed to uplifting, celebrating, and protecting Illinois’ LGBTQ+ community, Darren Bailey has always been focused on spouting hateful rhetoric, reminding voters that he is too extreme for Illinois.
Darren Bailey has a record of spreading anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric, including:
- Proudly saying that marriage should be “between a man and a woman”
- Claiming AIDS is punishment for “immoral choices”
- Opposing Gov. Pritzker’s signing of a law requiring public schools to teach LGBTQ+ people’s contributions to history
- Obsessing over Chicago Public Schools’ bathroom policy, which allows children to use the bathroom aligned with their gender identity, and calling the policy a “sickness”
- Saying “we need to pray for our legislature because we’ve seen these wicked LGBT teaching in our classroom school next year”
