“Here in Illinois, we are getting out the vote because we won’t let a wannabe dictator threaten our state’s progress and our futures,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “While Donald Trump and his MAGA sycophants attempt to threaten our free and fair elections and strip away voting rights, I am fighting every day to expand access to the polls and empower every Illinoisan to cast their vote. I’m so honored to be standing with Illinois’ leaders in faith as we continue our fight for justice and encourage voters to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November.”
“For Black and brown Americans, the church has been the base of our freedom struggle for as long as this country has existed,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “While leaders in Washington are determined to take us backwards, I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our faith leaders to send a message that our votes matter and that they can, and will, inspire change in this year’s election.”
Gov. Pritzker and Christian Mitchell are committed to protecting our free and fair elections and making it easier for every Illinoisan to register to vote and cast their ballot.
Gov. Pritzker has championed policies that protect voting rights and expand access to the ballot box in every corner of the state. Over the past eight years, the governor has:
- Increased vote-by-mail options, secure drop boxes, and curbside voting, making them permanent features of Illinois elections.
- Expanded early voting hours and opportunities for Illinoisans to have their voice heard.
- Required election authorities to establish central polling locations.
- Strengthened election cybersecurity and voting processes.
- Signed the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. Young Voter Empowerment Act, ensuring high schools provide students turning 18 with opportunities to register to vote.
