CHICAGO, IL — Governor JB Pritzker and Christian Mitchell kicked off their statewide bus tour today in Chicago and made stops in Wilmington, LaSalle, and McLean County. The tour officially launched at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago.
Next, Gov. Pritzker held a “Standing Up for Workers” rally with Painters District Council 14 and other Illinois union workers where he highlighted his commitment to fighting for Illinois workers.
“JB Pritzker is a dedicated fighter for working people,” said Bob Reiter, President of the Chicago Federation of Labor. “Every chance he gets, he pushes for workers to get the protections, pay, and benefits they deserve. He has our back and we have his.”
The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 officially endorsed Gov. Pritzker and Mitchell in Wilmington, citing their proven support of Illinois workers, including through the passage of the Illinois Worker’s Rights Amendment.
They made their final stop in McLean County at the Old Rugged Barn with the local Democratic party to discuss farming and opportunity in small towns. Gov. Pritzker and Mitchell were joined by State Representative Sharon Chung, Chair of McClean County Democratic Party Patrick Cortesi, and partner at Funks Grove Heritage Fruits and Grains Jeff Hake.
“Nine years ago in August, I arrived in Bloomington as a candidate for governor on one of my first campaign bus tours. We met at Laborers Local 362,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “I told you then that if elected, I would be relentless about investing in Central Illinois, creating jobs here, rebuilding our roads and bridges and airports, and investing in universities and community colleges. Standing here before you today with so many familiar faces, I’m proud to tell you that’s exactly what we’ve done.”
“Your families, your businesses, your livelihoods here in McLean County are worth protecting and investing in,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “Donald Trump has turned his back on you – the very folks who feed this country. But JB hasn’t. He never will. And when I become your next lieutenant governor, I promise that I’ll have your back too.”
“JB Pritzker and Christian Mitchell are the leaders that Illinoisans deserve,” said State Representative Sharon Chung. “And it’s obvious in everything Governor Pritzker has already achieved—from capping the price of insulin and making healthcare more affordable to rebuilding our infrastructure and creating thousands of jobs in the process.”

Along the way, Gov. Pritzker and Mitchell met with LaSalle County Democrats and visited the Gemini Giant and new Route 66 sign in Wilmington.
