CHICAGO, IL – As reported by WBEZ, during a “Save America Rally,” Darren Bailey’s running mate attacked abortion rights by proclaiming that a woman’s right to choose is a “sin against God” and that “nobody in Illinois wants to make Illinois a mecca for abortions.”
The Bailey/Del Mar ticket received top ratings from Illinois Right to Life Action, indicating they fully oppose abortion rights even in cases of rape or incest. Throughout his career, Darren Bailey has opposed abortion by claiming there is no one “more pro-life” than him, identifying “respecting life and ending abortion” as one of his top priorities, and comparing abortion to the Holocaust.
In response, JB for Governor campaign spokesperson Alex Gough released the following statement:
“Under Governor JB Pritzker, Illinois has become a safe haven for women’s reproductive freedom. Just like Donald Trump, Darren Bailey and his running mate want to take those protections away. It’s clear that the Bailey campaign is only focused on spreading the extreme, MAGA agenda by attacking women’s right to choose, supporting Trump’s failing economic agenda, and spreading far-right conspiracy theories.”
