REALITY CHECK: Rauner Decimated Tools for Illinois Seniors

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Illinois seniors have faced an all-out assault from Bruce Rauner as his 736-day budget crisis decimated funding for services they rely on for food, healthcare, and transportation. The failed governor has been anything but a champion for Illinois’ senior citizens.

REALITY CHECK:

  • Rauner vetoed a bill to protect the Community Care Program, threatening critical in-home, community-based services for seniors.
  • Because of Rauner’s budget crisis, 22,000 seniors were stripped of services such as home delivered meals.
  • Rauner’s proposed budget slashed $28 million from free and reduced-fare rides from eligible senior citizens and riders with disabilities.
