Chris Kennedy and Dan Biss both support taxing retirement income, one of the few areas Illinois doesn’t tax right now. Both could tax 401Ks, pensions, and even social security. On the other hand, JB Pritzker is against taxing retirement income – and so are 74 percent of Illinoisans.

REALITY CHECK:

• Chris Kennedy said he’s open to taxing retirement income.
• Dan Biss also said he’d consider taxing retirement income.
• A state poll from earlier this month showed taxing retirement income is “widely unpopular, with 74 percent opposing and only 22 percent in favor.”
