Rauner Failed Me: Katrina Anthony’s Story

Friday, April 13, 2018

Chicago, IL – Today, JB for Governor released a new story in the multimedia “Rauner Failed Me” campaign highlighting the real people who have been hurt by Bruce Rauner’s failures as governor.

Katrina, a special education teacher, is the latest Illinoisan to be featured in the campaign. Katrina has been failed by the shortage of educators created by Bruce Rauner’s disastrous agenda, impacting her ability to give her students the tools they need to thrive. Katrina’s story, and the stories of others who have been impacted by Bruce Rauner’s gross mismanagement can be found at the campaign’s website: RaunerFailedMe.com.

“Bruce Rauner has led an all-out assault on Illinois’ educators with devastating consequences for our students,” said Pritzker campaign communications director Galia Slayen. “While our failed governor desperately attempts to dodge accountability, families across our state pay the price.”

“Before Bruce Rauner became governor, we had a large amount of substitute teachers and paraprofessionals,” said Katrina Anthony. “Now, if I’m sick, I have to think about how that is going to affect my students. They can’t always find a substitute right away and it’s especially hard to find a substitute who understands my students and has the skills to make them comfortable. I support JB because of his commitment to education, his core values, and especially what he’s done to get children school breakfasts. I fully believe he has the children at heart and I know that will be central to him in Springfield.”
