Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat who is one of the strongest voices against Donald Trump, stood up for LGBTQ+ and particularly transgender people in a fiery speech Saturday at the Human Rights Campaign’s Los Angeles dinner.

Pritzker lashed out at the president and his supporters, whom he called “bootlickers” and “DOGE-bags,” a reference to the Trump’s unofficial Department of Government Efficiency, led by billionaire Elon Musk.

In his State of the State address, Gov. JB Pritzker, D-Ill., warned against authoritarianism, saying “it took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic” and asked Illinoisans to “gather your justice and your humanity.”
