National Association of Social Workers Illinois Chapter Endorses JB Pritzker for Governor

Chicago, IL – Today, the Illinois chapter of the National Association of Social Workers endorsed JB Pritzker for governor. NASW-IL advocates for over 20,000 licensed social workers in the state of Illinois, 6,000 of which are active members. The endorsement comes after JB Pritzker secured the Democratic nomination for governor and Democratic candidates from across the state came together to defeat Bruce Rauner and put Springfield back on the side of working families.

“From protecting Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to their staunch advocacy for human services in Illinois, the National Association of Social Workers Illinois chapter will be a vital partner in our statewide, grassroots campaign,” said JB Pritzker. “I look forward to partnering with social workers as we fight to beat Bruce Rauner and make sure Illinois’ working families have the tools they need to build better lives.”

“The last few years under the failed governorship of Bruce Rauner has been devastating to social services and clients our members serve,” said NASW-IL spokesman Kyle Hillman. “Never again should the safety of our most vulnerable be used as a bargaining chip for right-wing anti-middle class ideology. We stand with JB Pritzker, and look forward to working with him to not only restore our most vital services lost under the current administration — but to tackle some of the tough issues that for far too long Illinois has pushed aside. It is time to think big, it is time for a new direction. Our best chance for a new Illinois is under the leadership of JB Pritzker.”
