When Darren Bailey Had Power, He Used It to Hurt Illinois Workers

CHICAGO, IL – Darren Bailey used his position as state representative and state senator to attempt to block multiple pieces of pro-worker legislation. By voting against workers’ protections, fair wages, and paid leave, he made clear that he will never stand up for workers if elected governor.

Darren Bailey has cemented his anti-worker status by:

  • Opposing the workers’ rights amendment, which added workers’ right to organize and collectively bargain to the Illinois Constitution’s Bill of Rights;

  • Sponsoring a constitutional amendment to strip pension protections from workers who earned them;

  • Opposing a bill raising the minimum salary for Illinois teachers;

Darren Bailey’s record is clear: he is no friend of workers. Illinois workers deserve leadership that protects their rights and fights for their wages. Darren Bailey’s record shows he will do the exact opposite.
