THE 5 CRAZIEST THINGS THE BAILEY CAMPAIGN SAID DURING REPUBLICAN DAY

SPRINGFIELD, IL — Yesterday, Darren Bailey attended Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair and treated voters to lies, misinformation, and excuses for taking money from a child sex predator. He proved once again that he is too extreme for Illinois.

Here are five shocking moments from yesterday:

  1. Darren Bailey refused to answer whether he believed humans and dinosaurs walked the Earth together, claiming voters won’t be “swayed by that.”

Reality Check: According to the Field Museum, Britannica, and the U.S. Geological Survey, more than 65 million years passed between the extinction of dinosaurs and the earliest humans.

  1. Darren Bailey insisted he would debate Governor JB Pritzker “every day the whole month of September and October.”

Reality Check: Bailey refused to commit to the WTTW debate that Gov. Pritzker actually agreed to.

  1. When confronted about taking donations from a registered sex offender, Bailey insisted that he “never met” him.

Reality Check: The Sun-Times reported that Bailey attended a service at the church where Barr now serves as pastor.

  1. When asked about the campaign taking money from a child sex offender, Bailey’s running mate conspiratorially claimed he was “questionable about who actually donated.”

Reality Check: The Bailey campaign admitted  they received money from a sex offender.

  1. Darren Bailey affirmed that based on his own “research,” the registered sex offender is not a pastor.

Reality Check: The Sun-Times reported that he is.
