CHICAGO, IL – On Tuesday, Darren Bailey held a campaign event at a restaurant in the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago. After low turnout and pushback from the community, the restaurant released a statement declaring Bailey “does not represent [its] community” and it does not support the Republican Party.
This disingenuous attempt at reaching voters during an election year comes from an opponent who has done nothing but target this community and echo Trump’s hateful rhetoric. Darren Bailey cheered as Donald Trump terrorized Chicago’s neighborhoods and called to send Trump’s secret police to our streets.
In response, JB for Governor campaign spokesperson Jose Sanchez Molina released the following statement:
“Darren Bailey has no business setting foot into our Latino communities after asking Trump to send his secret police to terrorize neighborhoods and families. Instead of showing up in the city he once called a ‘hellhole’ when it’s an election year, he should denounce Trump’s extreme immigration agenda that has resulted in cruelty, intimidation, and abuse at the hands of his ICE and Border Patrol agents.”
