CHICAGO, IL – Today, JB For Governor released a new TV ad called “Towns Like Ours,” highlighting how Governor Pritzker is driving state investments to uplift pharmacies and lower prescription drug prices in rural and medically underserved communities.
The 30-second ad features a pharmacy owner in Petersburg, explaining how Gov. Pritzker’s investments have helped his pharmacy stay open and provide medicine at a lower price.
Rural and independent pharmacies across the state, like the one featured in this video, are directly benefiting from the Prescription Drug Affordability Act, which Gov. Pritzker signed into law in July 2025. The legislation took on predatory pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and created a grant program to support the local pharmacies that were being hurt by PBMs’ shady practices. As a result of the program, 434 independent Illinois pharmacies will receive nearly $25 million.
This is one of Gov. Pritzker’s many initiatives to ensure access to affordable life-saving healthcare. He also capped the out-of-pocket cost of insulin to $35 for a 30-day supply, capped out-of-pocket inhaler costs at $25 for a 30-day supply, and erased more than $1.1B in medical debt.
The ad will air on downstate broadcast and cable television markets, as well as on digital platforms.
