Mitchell Highlighted Illinois Democrats’ Investments in Food Assistance, Providing Emergency Payments for Illinoisans Losing SNAP
FOREST PARK, IL – Today, lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell joined a press conference alongside the Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez, Rep. La Shawn Ford, and Mayor Rory Hoskins to mark one year since the passing of the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

“Trump’s Big Ugly Bill has let families across Illinois down, and the president has made it clear that he simply doesn’t care,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “While Darren Bailey continues to defend the president, JB Pritzker is fighting back. In the face of these cruel policies, he secured emergency payments for families kicked off food assistance, invested in school breakfast and lunch programs, and increased funding for grocery stores across the state.”
“One year ago, Donald Trump decided to let kids go hungry in order to secure tax breaks for his rich friends,” said Governor JB Pritzker in a statement. “His Big Ugly Bill is just a preview of the heartless agenda MAGA Republicans will unleash if they win power in November. While Darren Bailey continues to stay silent on Trump’s failing economic policies, here in Illinois we are fighting back to put more money on working families’ pockets.”
