Governor JB Pritzker’s Climate and Equitable Jobs Act Lowers Energy Bills for Illinoisans

IL Families Reap Benefits to the Tune of $1.8B

CHICAGO, IL – Illinois families are seeing relief from sky-high energy costs, thanks to Governor JB Pritzker’s landmark Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).

Capitol News Illinois reported that CEJA has put $1.8B back into the pockets of ComEd customers across the state. And in the coming months, additional relief will chop off an average of $19 from Illinoisans’ monthly energy bills.

In 2021, Gov. Pritzker’s CEJA legislation was aimed at creating jobs, sustaining Illinois’ nuclear fleet, and bolstering capacity with clean energy investments. And now, it’s giving needed relief to hardworking Illinoisans – who are facing the brunt of rising costs from President Trump’s failing economy.

It’s clear – these credits back on energy bills are lowering energy costs for millions of Illinoisans.

“Because we took action to modernize energy production in our state, Illinoisans are seeing savings on their monthly energy bills,” said Gov. Pritzker. “I’ve always been focused on putting working families first. As Trump continues to drive up costs on everything from gas to groceries, my administration is going to keep working to make people’s lives easier.”

“As deputy governor, I was proud to spearhead the Governor’s efforts to draft and pass CEJA, solidifying Illinois as a national leader in clean energy production. Now, Illinoisans are seeing real savings as a result,” said lieutenant governor candidate Christian Mitchell.

As the Trump administration continues to raise prices nationwide, Gov. Pritzker implemented consumer protections in CEJA that are paying off – fighting high energy costs and giving money back to working families.
