CHICAGO, IL — On the final day of their statewide bus tour, Governor JB Pritzker and Christian Mitchell made their way back to Chicago, stopping in Rockford to attend services at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church and meet with voters along the way.
Gov. Pritzker and Mitchell stopped at Prairie Street Brewing Co., where they met with Winnebago County Democrats and thanked them for their efforts to support Democrats up and down the ballot in Illinois. They were joined by Winnebago County Democratic Party Chair Charlie Laskonis.
“Here in Rockford, we’ve gotten a lot done, like investing over $5 million to revitalize Madison Street and Times Theater, expanding clean energy transit by adding electric buses and charging stations, and improving roads and highways through Rebuild Illinois,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “Through every effort, we’ve stood for justice and never faltered. Even amid countless federal attacks, we’ve sustained our commitment to lowering costs and improving the lives of those who need it most: the working-class, the middle-class, and the most vulnerable.”
“The progress JB has delivered can be seen and felt in every part of this state, including right here in Winnebago County,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “As deputy governor, I was proud to lead the passage and implementation of Rebuild Illinois, which is funding the over-$98 million reconstruction of Interstate 39 and the U.S. 20 interchange. That means safer, better roads for hardworking families who depend on them. That’s what happens when you elect leaders who actually fight for you.”
“Since he became governor in 2019, JB Pritzker has delivered for Rockford, providing funding to revitalize Madison Street, increase the number of electric buses and charging stations, and reconstruct the I-39 and U.S. 20 interchange,” said Winnebago County Democratic Party Chair Charlie Laskonis. “I know that JB and Christian will fight like hell to build on the incredible progress we have made.”
Gov. Pritzker and Mitchell ended the bus tour at SEIU Essential CareFest in Chicago, thanking health and home care workers for all their work providing care for Illinoisans who need it most. They were joined by SEIU HCII President Greg Kelley.
“Health and home care workers are heroes to so many people in our state,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “SEIU members provide support, companionship, and care for their patients while helping them live with dignity. And at a time when the federal government is abandoning patients, SEIU and its members are fighting for working families, higher wages, and lower healthcare costs. I will never stop fighting for SEIU members and all the extraordinary health and home care workers across the state.”
“I’m so grateful for the work you do,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “I know how hard you work and how much you care because I’ve seen it firsthand with my mom, a proud healthcare worker of over 30 years. The care you give your patients is the care we should all strive to emulate. JB and I will never stop fighting for SEIU, and the entire healthcare worker community.”
