CHICAGO, IL — Darren Bailey attempted to defeat Governor JB Pritzker’s effort to cap insulin costs, which provided economic relief for an estimated 260,000 Illinoisans who use insulin. Bailey even doubled down after the bill passed and said “I could not throw my support behind this.”
Insulin is a lifesaving drug, and Gov. Pritzker lowered its cost twice. Today, Illinois law requires health insurance companies to limit the out-of-pocket cost of insulin to $35 for a 30-day supply.
The contrast is clear: While Darren Bailey is willing to abandon families struggling to cover the cost of their prescriptions, Gov. Pritzker has taken action to lower costs for working families and expand access to affordable healthcare.
