President Donald Trump: “I like Darren Bailey.”
CHICAGO, IL – Today, President Donald Trump reaffirmed his friendship with Darren Bailey, saying, “I like Darren Bailey.”
While Darren Bailey twists himself into a pretzel to avoid his own extreme record and hide his admiration for Donald Trump as he tanks in the polls, the President himself reminded voters that Bailey is a MAGA Trump loyalist.
In response, JB for Governor campaign spokesperson Alex Gough released the following statement:
“Darren Bailey and Donald Trump are obsessed with each other. Time and time again, their lovefest has proved Bailey will put Trump and his agenda before the needs of Illinoisans. Bailey’s said it himself – he would roll the red carpet out for Trump and welcome his extreme MAGA agenda to Illinois. Illinoisans deserve a leader who will actually deliver for them, not a president’s puppet who would rather let working families suffer than criticize Trump.”
Bailey has a long history of cozying up to Trump. In 2022, he received Trump’s endorsement and said he would “roll the red carpet out” for Trump. Over the years, Bailey’s visited Mar-a-Lago multiple times, posing for photos with Trump and his cronies. In fact, Darren practically begged for the President’s endorsement during a failed bid to outcrazy Mike Bost but ultimately settled for the endorsement of disgraced former Congressman Matt Gaetz.
Bailey has continued to praise Trump’s MAGA agenda and backed Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago. Just last year, he called the January 6th insurrection a “farce.” Bailey even said in December he would be “honored” to receive Trump’s endorsement again.
While Governor JB Pritzker is focused on lowering costs for working families and delivering progress for the state, Bailey’s made it clear that he’ll do whatever Trump says, even at the expense of Illinois families and their livelihoods – yet again proving he’s too extreme for Illinois.
