Chicago, IL – In response to Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans shutting down the government, JB Pritzker released the following statement:

“This shutdown is what happens when the political party that controls both chambers of Congress and the White House cedes their values to Donald Trump,” said JB Pritzker. “With healthcare for millions of children on the line, with the lives of hundreds of thousands of immigrant families at stake, Donald Trump and Republicans failed in their basic obligation to do their jobs and defend our values. This is a page right out of Bruce Rauner’s crisis creating playbook, so it should come as no surprise that this failed governor has remained silent. With our values under siege in Washington, Illinoisans deserve a governor who will never cower from the fight — and that’s exactly what I’ll do in Springfield.”
