Chicago, IL – JB Pritzker released the following statement in response to Congressional Republicans passing Donald Trump’s destructive tax bill:

“Donald Trump rammed through one of the least popular and most devastating pieces of legislation in recent memory,” said JB Pritzker. “Trump’s tax bill demonstrates callous disregard for the American Dream, hiking taxes on our middle class to benefit the wealthy and corporations, leveraging our future by adding billions to the deficit, and stripping affordable healthcare from millions of families. Despite the devastation this bill will unleash on our middle class and those striving to get into the middle class, Bruce Rauner would rather cower from Trump than defend the families who need him most. Rauner has remained silent and done nothing to stand up for Illinois. It’s time for a governor ready to resist Donald Trump, stand up for working families, and take charge of this state and you can rest assured I will be in charge when I’m governor.”
