JB Details How He Will Grow the Economy, Invest in Higher Education, and Legalize Marijuana as Governor

Chicago, IL – Today, JB Pritzker met with the Chicago Tribune editorial board and laid out his bold plans for growing the Illinois economy, legalizing marijuana, and undoing Bruce Rauner’s damage to our higher education system.

BALANCING THE BUDGET AND GROWING THE ECONOMY

On the budget, JB focused not just on revenue and expenditures, but on the growth Illinois needs to get back on track. He talked about how Bruce Rauner’s instability and crises have hurt job growth in this state and his own plans to bring stability back to Springfield, pass a balanced budget, and attract businesses and jobs to Illinois.

INVESTING IN HIGHER EDUCATION

JB blasted Bruce Rauner for his destruction of higher education in Illinois and talked about his own plans to invest in these critical public institutions.

LEGALIZING MARIJUANA

JB spoke about the importance of legalizing marijuana in a safe and regulated manner to bring much needed criminal justice reform and revenue to this state, and pointed out a key difference between himself and Chris Kennedy who does not support legalizing marijuana.

“JB Pritzker has bold plans to bring real change to Illinois, and he clearly laid that out today at the Chicago Tribune editorial board,” said Pritzker campaign manager Anne Caprara. “From legalizing marijuana, to growing the Illinois economy and investing in higher education, JB demonstrated that he is the only candidate with big ideas and real plans to get things done. After three years of constant crisis under Bruce Rauner, his time in Springfield is up, and it is clear that JB is the leader who can beat Rauner in November.”
