JB Pritzker and Juliana Stratton Address Gun Violence at West Side Community Meeting

Thursday, January 25, 2018

Chicago, IL – Today, JB Pritzker and State Representative Juliana Stratton spoke about their plans to address gun violence and create economic opportunity at a community meeting and panel on the West Side of Chicago. During the event, they highlighted their plans to treat gun violence as a public health epidemic, build safer communities, and increase firearm safety and accountability between law enforcement and the communities they serve, while addressing the root causes of systemic disinvestment in communities.

“I’ve worked with community leaders and advocates to put forward real plans to address gun violence in our communities,” said JB Pritzker. “There are deep rooted causes here that have led to economic despair and a lack of jobs. We have to recognize that a history of systemic racism and disinvestment has kept some neighborhoods from attracting businesses and investment dollars. It’s time we brought not just jobs into this community, but true wealth and prosperity. I’ll fight every day to bring economic opportunity to every corner of our state. I will make it my mission to create jobs, provide a quality education for every child, expand healthcare coverage, and bring hope back to Illinois families.”
