JB Pritzker Continues “Damage is Done” Tour with Visit to Lutheran Social Services of Illinois

Chicago, IL — JB highlighted Bruce Rauner’s 736-day manufactured budget crisis and the suffering it continues to inflict on Illinois families and social service agencies.

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is the largest social service agency in Illinois, and has been particularly devastated by Rauner’s budget crisis. Last year, they were forced to eliminate 750 positions and shut down 30 programs, including drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs, housing for recently released prisoners and their families, and a children’s shelter.

“For nearly 150 years, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois has been serving our state’s most vulnerable communities,” said JB Pritzker. “The 750 positions and 30 programs they were forced to cut due to Rauner’s crisis can’t just come back. The children and families that lost access to shelter and treatment can’t just be made whole. It will take resources and time for Lutheran Social Services to rebuild and they deserve a partner in Springfield for the long road ahead. With the governor continuing to play politics and filling his administration with radical right-wing hires, it’s clear that partner will never be Bruce Rauner.”
