Faces of the Budget: Seniors Suffered from Bruce Rauner’s Mismanagement

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Chicago, IL – After three years of unbalanced budgets and a historic 736-day budget crisis, Bruce Rauner’s gross mismanagement has hurt children and families across the state. This week, the Pritzker campaign is highlighting not just the numbers on spreadsheets, but the real faces harmed by Rauner’s heartless cuts.

The well-being of Illinois seniors has been jeopardized by Bruce Rauner’s budget mismanagement:

  • 80,000 seniors were left without access to critical home care services when Rauner vetoed funding for the Community Care Program.

“Seniors deserve the opportunity to live healthy, independent lives, but Bruce Rauner has undermined the tools they need to live in dignity,” said JB Pritzker. “From jeopardizing home care to slashing home-delivered meals and transportation services, Rauner has mercilessly upended the lives of Illinois seniors. We need a leader who will ensure seniors have the tools they need to thrive and that’s the leader I will be in Springfield.”
