Sends Public Health Aide to Campaign Instead of Managing Crisis

Chicago, IL – Yesterday, it was revealed that Bruce Rauner put politics before people yet again when his administration dispatched a key Department of Public Health aide for campaign work during the Quincy Veterans’ Home Legionnaires’ crisis.

The revelation comes as Bruce Rauner has been under fire for his fatal mismanagement of the ongoing crisis, which began in 2015 and has claimed 13 lives. Throughout the crisis, Rauner’s administration has continuously focused on the politics of the issue before the people affected, with emails detailing his administration strategizing on public relations while failing to create a real plan to address the problem.

“As the Legionnaires’ crisis at the Quincy Veterans’ Home spiraled out of control, Bruce Rauner’s administration put politics over people, letting key administration staffers go off to campaigns instead of taking charge to address his crisis,” said Pritzker campaign spokesman Jason Rubin. “For almost three years, Rauner has put our state’s heroes at risk, lied to their families, and done everything in his power to dodge responsibility for his crisis and it’s time he be held accountable for his failure.”
