After Applauding Bruce Rauner, Chris Kennedy Won’t Stand Up to Donald Trump

“I Don’t Know That There’s Much We Can Do About the Trump Administration”

Chicago, IL – Time and again, Chris Kennedy proves that he is either unwilling or unable to stand up to Donald Trump if he’s elected governor, which is unsurprising given his applause of Bruce Rauner.

When asked how he’d prevent Trump from cutting student aid on Thursday, Kennedy said, “I don’t know that there’s much we can do about the Trump administration.” Kennedy’s defeatist answer echoes another weak response from December when he failed to name a fix for Trump’s tax plan, instead saying “sometimes the best thing to do is nothing.”

“Illinois needs a governor willing and able to stand up to Donald Trump, and Chris Kennedy has shown he won’t be the fighter our state deserves,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “While Chris Kennedy squirms and Bruce Rauner cowers, JB Pritzker will lead the charge to resist Donald Trump and protect Illinois communities.”
