CHICAGO, IL — Yesterday, Governor JB Pritzker and lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell joined the annual 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.
“Chicago would not be half as vibrant a city without our Latino community,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “For as long as I’ve lived in Chicago, this has been one of my favorite neighborhoods to visit. As governor, I’m going to keep standing up for Latino communities across Illinois and making sure people know their rights, that kids get to school safely, and that local businesses can thrive.”
“Yesterday’s 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade was a powerful reminder of what our Latino community means to Illinois,” said lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Christian Mitchell. “I was proud to join Governor JB Pritzker as his running mate and march alongside our Latino neighbors, one year after Operation Midway Blitz sought to keep these families off their own streets. Yesterday we showed up in Little Village united and stronger than ever. JB and I will keep fighting to protect our neighbors and deliver for the communities they call home.”
